Schottische Melodien_Bd.1 Oswald/Spätling
Item num.: es00251
by James Oswald/Philipp Spätling
The Caledonian Pocket Companion […] for the German Flute is a great collection (12 volumes) of several hundred of Scottish Tunes which where gathered over years by the Scottish player, composer and publisher James Oswald (1710-1769). To some of the music he added his own variations. Some melodies are written by him personally, some may have been added by him anonymously.
For this edition I've chosen one dozen tunes, that inspired me to set them for three recorders (TTB).
The pieces are composed in different styles, varying from an archaic folk tone, passing over some pieces in the galant style up to some pieces, that sound more „modern“.
